I think you have to remember that witnesses are very good at compartmentalising and putting the happy face on. If you asked anyone in my congregation if they thought I was happy they'd probably say yes.
Mickey.
i've been wondering about this a lot lately.
when i was a jw, i was always miserable because i was so busy trying to keep up with everyone else, i.e., field service hours, dressing appropriately, having the right attitude, feeling guilty about desiring things not approved by the wts, such as an education.
my own experience as a jw was so filled with unhappiness that it never occurred to me that anybody in the wts could actually be happy and have a joyful life.

there are continuing rumors about changes that are going to be made in the elder arrangement.
while these are still only rumors, i wish .
to repeat that the society must be under pressure to make legally motivated changes to the elder structure.. first, the appointment of elders seems to be much more direct than the appointment of most priests or pastors in common religions.. that might be a problem leading directly to the governing body.. more than that, there is a clearly defined hierarchy going up from local elders thru the c.o.
If there are changes you can bet it's for legal reasons. Of course, the official spin will be to get closer to the model of the first century congregations and everyone will buy it. Imagine if they went back to having local elections?! I believe they did it that way some 50 plus years ago. There would be one or two I'd be more than happy to unceremoniously boot out!

was everyone treated the same in your hall?
No! As an elder's daughter I remember being hauled in the back room and questioned about things when I wasn't even involved. Sometimes when others were in trouble they would say "Well Mickey was there and she's an elder's daughter" just to take the heat off themselves.

jwd means many different things to many different people .
some like to play the werewolf game.
some like to promote atheism.
Firstly I came here to learn the truth about "the truth". Then I found a huge amount of support from others who've been through the same process.
At the moment I'm learning more about cult mind control and it's telling me a lot about why I am who I am.
I also find the philosophical and theological discussions useful. I feel like a blank sheet of paper at the moment. I have no certain beliefs and I'm learning from other people's perspectives and figuring out which way I'm leaning.
I signed up for the last Werewolf thread and then forgot about it. I guess I'll come to the fluff and freindship threads later.

?
if so, how often.. do you still attend the memorial?.
i never go, ever, and haven't been to a memorial in about 6 years (been too long to accurately remember) - i'm too far gone.
Sometimes? Try most times.

they are being very vague, but it is obvious that they are trying to stir up speculation/excitement.. the entire magazine appears to be about the house to house ministry.
Can you post an excerpt? I don't have that issue yet.

i'm not necessarily asking for the big stumbling blocks here or things you discovered once you started doing your own research outside the borg.
i'm talking about the smaller things.. for me one thing was the talk of no one being able to become a witness unless "jehovahs drew them to him".
as a born-in this never jived with me.

For me one thing was the talk of no one being able to become a witness unless "Jehovahs drew them to him". As a born-in this never jived with me. The other issue was if I had been born on the other side of the world I would likely be wearing a burkha, or otherwise brought up in another type of religion with little or no chance of coming into contact with "the truth".
How about you?

in revelation 7:15, the nwt says that a great crowd who had just come out of the great tribulation would be rendering sacred service to god "day and night in his temple.
" in the book, revelationits grand climax at hand!, the explanation of this verse is given as follows:.
this temple does not refer to the inner sanctuary, the most holy.
Good research. It is troubling to me that there is more bible discussion on here than there is amongst the average group of JW's.
